Tae
Kwon Do Black Belt Essay
(June 3, 2000)
The
School
Luke’s
Tae Kwon Do is the only martial arts school I have ever attended.
I know people who attended other Tae Kwon Do schools, or study
different martial arts’ and everyone has a different
opinion over what is good and what is not. Since it is obvious
that we would have different opinions about which school is
better and which teacher is better, it is very hard to speak
the truth. I think the main idea in any school would be the
same, to get the most out of students who attend and try to
make better people out of everyone because that is the meaning
behind Tae Kwon Do, and all other martial arts.
How
other schools or training centers do it is a complete mystery
to me. Every school is bound to be different, and there is
nothing wrong with that, because people are different and
different people teach different methods. What would be wrong
is if a school only taught hatred and the need to hurt others,
or didn’t teach at all. Thankfully I was never taught
to hate or to hurt someone else while sparring, and I know
that Master Luke would never let anything like that be taught
in the school. I know that there will be differences, and
similarities between schools; I may even find out what they
are in the future. But for now I do not know that the differences
are because I have not had the chance to have been taught
anywhere else.
In
the perfect world, every school would be allowed to be different,
yet still be the same. We do not live in a perfect world,
but maybe this would still apply.
